- The Fabulous Text Sucking Leech is a utility that opens files and
- pulls text out of the data fork to a text file of your determination.
- You simply select Open from the file menu, and the file will be
- read into memory (all in one pass). If memory is not available, you
- will be notified and your only alternative will be to increase the
- multifinder partition or purchase some more SIMMS.
- Once the file has been read, you will designate the name of the TEXT
- file to be created.
-
- After this the original file will be translated into your text file
- according to the settings you have selected in the options menu.
-
- These are;
- A. Insert Format: This option allows you to insert a marker such as
- a carriage return into the output file every 40,60,80, or
- 100 characters.
-
- B. Format With: This is the marker character. Normally you would choose
- a sensible character such as a carriage return, but you can also
- select a space or line feed when you are feeling frivolous.
-
- C. Ignore: The characters you wish to ignore will not be considered as
- text and will not be translated into your output file.
- You may select any or all of these;Returns, Tabs, Spaces, numbers (0-9),
- and the set of characters !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?
-
- D. Contiguous: This option allows you to eliminate some of the garbage
- in your output file. The number you select (1,2,4,8,16 or 32)
- indicates the minimum number of contiguous ASC characters in a
- stream of text that will be output. If the Leech runs into a single
- lone character and you have set contiguous to 2, that character will
- not be output.
-
-
- The Fabulous Text Sucking Leech can serve you in many strange and wonderful
- ways! For instance, it can serve as a HyperCard Stack disassembler.
- Try it on a stack and you will see what I mean! Try Bomber, for instance.
- You will be questioned as to why you are looking at their copyrighted code.
- You might use it as a text recovery program. If you have a word processor
- file that has been trashed, the leech may help you to at least salvage the
- text.
-
-
- As always, I would appreciate a contribution of $5. It ain't easy seeing
- that hundreds of people download a program, but only one or two take the
- time to make a contribution. I'll wager that you will find the program
- to be usefull but that you would like to see some changes. Let me know
- what they are!
- Thankyou
